Expert Says Salaries, Including For PDs, Should Be Public
From the Marin Independent Journal: The county’s policy does not disclose salaries for all top earners. Supervisors are withholding, for example, what taxpayers pay lawyers in the public defender’s, district attorney’s and county counsel’s offices, as well as other top earners who are not department heads or top assistants. The Board of Supervisors has scheduled a public discussion of its new policy for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Room 330 of Civic Center in San Rafael. “At the request of Supervisor (Susan) Adams, we have scheduled this item É to allow for discussion of the county’s approach to releasing employee salary information,” County Administrator Matthew Hymel said.
