Former PD Back In Legal Trouble

The Ohio Supreme Court on Thursday found a former Montgomery County public defender in contempt for failing to surrender her attorney registration card or file an affidavit of compliance.

In March, the court suspended Jennifer Krieger’s law license for a year for violating professional standards during a romantic relationship with a teenage client. Krieger, 38, of Miamisburg was required to surrender her registration card and file an affidavit of compliance by April 21.

Krieger — married to lawyer Kevin Hughes, living in Springboro with two young children — ran into the Springboro police station in February 2004, accusing Bradley Willoughby of trying to kill her.

This ended a relationship during which they had “sexual relations at least 100 times” at the Hughes family residence, a rented house and apartment she rented “and in various motor vehicles,” according to disciplinary charges filed against her.

She also provided Willoughby more than $10,000 during their relationship and hid him in a nearby lodging while vacationing in North Carolina, according to the investigation.

Krieger faces fines or an extended suspension or revokation of her law license. Her lawyer, Gary Schaengold, said he couldn’t explain why Krieger hadn’t complied with the court order.
