A Three Week Cease Fire

I have been in overdrive this month and hadn’t realized that I had depleted the one week buffer I try to keep in place. This three week cease fire couldn’t have come at a better time. The last week of October is actually our semi annual CLE training so in reality I only really have a two week respite.

I was starting to wonder if I was going to have the time to prepare two cases which are definite trials in November. Now I can sit down with our new investigator and get him busy locating some key witnesses and gathering some key documents I will be needing.

I’m also going to use this time to go “guerrilla warfare” on the DA’s office. Last month I prepared 42 motions for bond reconsideration and set them for hearing wherever the court administrators would allow me to squeeze them in. This had all the ADA’s in an uproar calling and pleading to take them off the docket and work them out. The private defense bar was ecstatic because this forced the DA’s office to come down off several of their recommendations because my motions were sucking up all of their free time.
