Cops lie all the time. As long as they remain immune from their false testimony, the lying will continue. Any judge who doesn’t know and accept this truth is incompetent and should be removed from the bench.

Holder’s comments and the Access to Justice Initiative are timely under this administration. Obama’s call to service should include attorneys capable of assisting in upholding the 6th amendment by committing to providing legal counsel to citizens without access through traditional means. This is not just a matter of concern for indivdual defendants, however. Adequate legal defense is the only means of checking the prosecutorial powers of the State and thereby ensuring the liberty of all citizens.

In my forty years as a defense attorney, I’ve never known a category of liar as bloated as that of police officers…except of course, prosecutors.

I understand the replies listed above are a couple of years old, but I will say that Mr. Frankum and his company, Halo Protection Services, Inc., have provided exceptional investigative services for criminal cases I have defended over several years. He and the investigators who work for him are always professional and I have always produced useful information I have used in trial. I would highly recommend Eddie Frankum and Halo Protection Services to anyone who may be in need of a criminal defense investigator.

I get that mothers get emotional about their child’s welfare. They should. But I don’t think they understand that attorneys cannot afford to get that emotional. They need to be able to focus and cover all their bases.

Yes, many attorneys have gotten in hot water by blogging about their jobs, but generally it’s been for complaining about specific judges and prosecutors and mentioning information about specific clients that could be interpreted as violating privilege. Public Defender Revolution is doing something different by talking about the profession on a larger scale. It’s important that public defenders (and private defense attorneys) can talk about the challenges of this work in an honest way and with the people who understand that they’re talking about. If that sort of conversation gets bloggers in hot water, something is very wrong.
